Trolley Problems
Trolley Problems presents the famous ethics dilemma and a series of escalating variants, asking you to make the call and then sit with what your choice implies. How it works: each scenario describes a runaway trolley and a decision — pull the lever or not — and as the variants stack up, the changes in circumstances expose which principles your choices actually follow, which is rarely the principle you would have claimed upfront. The format has survived decades of philosophy seminars precisely because it converts abstract ethical theory into decisions that feel real, and the discomfort of choosing is the teaching mechanism. Students use it to prepare for ethics discussions, teachers use it to provoke genuine debate, friends use it to discover how differently people weigh outcomes against actions, and solo players use it as a rare chance to examine their own moral instincts under controlled conditions. Tip: after each choice, articulate the rule you think you followed, then check whether the next variant breaks it — the gap between stated principles and revealed choices is the entire point.
